Women’s Health & Pelvic Floor Therapy
You deserve to feel like yourself again. Let’s get to the root of what’s holding you back.
Pelvic Health Is Connected to Your Core, Joints, Spine, and Movement
The pelvic floor does not work alone. It is part of a larger system that includes your core, hips, low back, spine, and breathing mechanics.
When the pelvic floor is weak, tight, painful, or not coordinating well, it can contribute to symptoms throughout the body. You may notice bladder or bowel issues, pelvic pain, hip pain, low back pain, tailbone pain, pelvic pressure, ab separation, or difficulty returning to exercise, work, sport, or daily activity after pregnancy, childbirth, surgery, or menopause.
Our background in joint, spine, and sport rehab empowers us to look at the whole person, not just one symptom.
What Is Pelvic Floor Therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy is specialized physical therapy focused on the muscles that support the bladder, bowels, and reproductive organs.
Your local clinician will take time to understand what you are experiencing, answer your questions, and explain what may be contributing to your discomfort. They will then build an individualized plan of care around your needs, goals, and comfort level.
Conditions We Treat
Pelvic floor and women’s health physical therapy can help with:
- Urinary leakage or urgency
- Constipation or bowel control issues
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Chronic pelvic, hip, low back, or tailbone pain
- Painful intercourse
- Pregnancy-related pain
- Postpartum recovery
- Menopause-related pelvic floor changes
- Ab separation, also called diastasis recti or diastasis recti abdominis
- Difficulty returning to exercise, work, sport, or daily activity
What to Expect from your first Pelvic Floor Therapy Appointment?
At your first visit, your physical therapist will review your medical history, talk through your concerns, and complete a thorough evaluation.
Your treatment may include education, bowel and bladder training, breathing and core retraining, functional movement training, pelvic floor muscle retraining, hip and spine mobility, strengthening, biofeedback, and external or internal assessment when appropriate.
You are always in control of your care. Your therapist will explain each step, answer your questions, and only move forward with your consent.
