Modalities / Healing Agents
A modality is an intervention that is used to heal the body.
What are Modalities / Healing Agents?
A modality is an intervention that is used to heal the body. We offer a wide range of the most advanced modalities that speed the healing process in conjunction with appropriate manual treatments and therapeutic exercise.
Modalities that we offer include, but are not limited to:
- Cold (cryotherapy) / Heat therapy
- Ice massage
- Electrical Stimulation
- Ultrasound
- Phonophoresis: Technique of introducing ionic medicinal steroid compounds into the body through the skin by applying a local ultrasound current.
- Neuromuscular Stimulation
- Cold Laser
- Paraffin bath: A form of heat therapy used to treat joint and muscle pain from arthritis. The patient dips the painful affected limb into the bath to coat it with the wax, then removes it from the bath. The hot paraffin continues to provide deep, penetrating heat to the affected limb so that the therapist can now perform specific manual therapy for improved outcomes.
- Iontophoresis: a technique of introducing ionic medicinal steroid compounds into the body through the skin by applying a local electric current.
Signs to pay attention to when ice and heat modalities are not enough:
- Tendons, muscles or joints remain weak after a period of 1-2 weeks.
- Pain persists at same levels for more than 1 week.
- Function or abilities are decreased for more than 1 week
